Than Hsiang Vegetarian Food

Here I would like to recomment you the vegetarian food selling at Than Hsiang Vegetarian Canteen. The canteeen is located at the ground floor of Wisma Than Hsiang. A vegetarian rice set is just cost for RM4. It’s a self service meal that you can pick from all the available dishes. The RM4 will eventually go towards Wan Ching Yuen Old Folks Home, which is located on the upper floor of the Wisma Than Hsiang. You can eat and making donation at the same time. To kill two birds with one stone, very meaningful indeed. You can also “ta pao” (take away) the rice set. The packaging material used is the biodegradable material, which is different from polyfoam.

The food here is tasty as well, see the following photos from what we used to “ta pao”.

Golden BBQ Steamboat Restaurant

This is actually a back dated post. Jack and I re-visited Golden BBQ Steamboat Restaurant somewhere in Nov, 2007. It’s a good place to visit when you are craving for food. It offers buffet style steamboat and BBQ. Eat all you can, just don’t waste the food.


The restaurant owner combines 3 historical houses to become a restaurant.


They prepare some ready food for those who are really hungry ;P


These are the ingredients for the steamboat and BBQ.


They also prepare a pot of braised chicken feet. Besides, a pot of “char ye dan” (tea egg) is also available.


Here are some assorted fish balls, and crab sticks.


Some processed pig’s skin, abalone mushrooms, quail’s eggs and hot dogs.

Prawns, cuttle fish and marinated squids for BBQ.


Sour and spicy sauce definitely is a must.


Our first round of steamboat is ready! We had our second, and third round, plus the BBQ. 😛

Tonki Japanese Restaurant

Tonki is located in Pulau Tikus, near to Belissa Row. The place mainly serves set lunch and dinner with reasonable prices, which comes with free flow of Miso soup and green tea.

Tai Fuu Chinese Restaurant

A week before CNY, my brother in law brought five of us (Jack & I, parents in law and grandma in law) to have a dinner at Tai Fuu Chinese Restaurant.

Tai Fuu Chinese Restaurant is located at Jalan Tengah, Bayan Lepas, next to the Bank Pertanian. Previously, it was Rush Jimmy, a restaurant serving Western food & Oriental food. Jack & I used to dine at Rush Jimmy, and we love their western food. It’s cheap, big serving, and tasty. But ever since Tai Fuu took over the place, we haven’t pay them a visit. This is the first time.

Since there were total of six persons, we were recommended to order their Chinese New Year set. The set consisted of 7 dishes. It’s inclusive of rice, herbs tea, and soup.

This is the corn soup served at the very beginning. The soup is quite flavorful. I believe it’s been boiled/simmered for long hours with pork ribs. I could taste the sweetness.

This is their signature noodles. It looks normal, but it’s very fragrant. I could taste the “wok hei”. That’s the reason while the photo was taken, a big portion of the noodles had already been grabbed away.

Thai style steam fish, very sourish. The pomfret was so fresh and sweet.

My favourite dish, Thai style prawns. They were very generous for the serving. I alone already finished 6 big prawns, hehe… 😛 I like it the most among the all.

This is the chicken roll. A lot of ingredients rolled up in the chicken thigh. I could taste the lup cheong (Chinese style sausage), minced prawns and minced pork. Anyway, the combination brings a weird flavour caused by the lup cheong. It’s not to my liking. 😦

The whole set of meal cost for RM108 nett. There’s no extra charges on the additional rice, or top up for the tea and soup.

Seafood Dinner @ Hai Boey, Teluk Kumbar

On 12th Oct 2007, the day when my Gynae, Dr Quah confirmed my baby’s heart beat at 7 weeks, hubby and I celebrated that meaningful day having our dinner at Hai Boey, Teluk Kumbar. Both of us were so delighted with the good news.

This is their famous dish, fish in clay pot. We selected garoupa. The fish is fresh and their special sauce made the fish so flavourful. I noticed almost every table order this dish.

A roe crab and a meat crab, they called it as Thai style butter crabs. Both of us were addicted by the aroma. We like it very much.

Belacan fried chicken, just an ordinary dish.

Their signature tofu. Again, I found another delicious tofu dish with luffa. Smooth and silky. You can just taste the original tofu, as no dried prawns for garnishing. It’s great!
